An open-source audio editor for making podcasts, mixing music, etc. I prefer Audacity to Garage Band because it works on PC and Mac (even if you have a Mac in your library or makerspace, your patrons/members may not at home, so it’s nice to have a tool that’s free and cross-platform) and because it’s free and open-source.
Anybody who could power up a boom box back in the day can master the basics because the primary dashboard has boom box-like buttons. There are some mixing and audio effects features, too.
Install the LAME encoder as well if you want to export to the ubiquitous mp3 format.
